Guzman y Gomez Mexican Taquería

Part of what makes the taco experience magical is the attention to detail. And one of the many merits of the Japanese culture is the crazy-high level of respect and courteousness for others and admirable level of attention to detail. So when the #searchfortheperfecttaco took me to Tokyo, Japan with @convoi_ and @acanelaexpeditions, I was excited to see how this would play out, and admittedly curious to see how authentic they would taste.

I mean, after Mexican food, Japan has some of the best cuisine in the world, but tacos? The research had to be done. I scoured the city for the best tacos I could find and landed at the Asian franchise @GuzmanyGomez. The tacos were piled with tasty pastor and carnitas meat—look at that large chunk of pork. Served with a lime (of course). Double tortilla street style. And two things I thought were super cool: the paper the tacos were served on had a TON of taco and Mexico fun facts to educate their customers about the virtues of the taco and Mexican culture. Love it. And the fork, a thoughtful touch for when the overstuffed taco spills out onto the plate. (Although my heart prefers another tortilla instead of a fork).

I’m on board with these tacos, recommend you grab some if you’re there and in need of a Mexican food fix. And Tokyo…Guzman y Gomez are legit! I always am in support of any efforts to spread the taco love worldwide!
