Julias Mexican Food

Discovered this Rose Park gem on @yelp. After scouring for a new taco joint in downtown SLC area, and obviously filtering anything that had orange cheese in the photos, decided to give Julia’s a try. The handmade tortillas (a telltale sign of greatness) put us over the edge. Walking into Julia’s super clean pink and yellow paradise was kind of like being inside a bubblegum machine or @katyperry video complete with freshly shared inspirational quotes from patrons on the wall. New owners as of 6 months ago, Sergio and Dolores, really made us feel like family. With a CDMX-inspired menu, the tlacoyo was delicious (even though we missed the blue corn…they said they thought that would be off putting…no way!) and the best of the three tacos was the al pastor (tinga de pollo was also tasty and better than the carne asada). Tasted not necessarily like street al pastor, but al pastor hecho en casa. And the most classic of it all, Sergio brought us each an amazing piece of candies guayaba “de pilón.” All contributing to the magic of the taco experience…personal and memorable. We’ll be back amigos!
