Did you know Yellow served instead of limes (which are served only by request) in Mexicali. Total taco education for me. When I asked a fellow taco eater why…he said, “Lemons are less acidic. Let’s you taste and appreciate the meat better.” I’m still partial to limes.

Taco Tuesday on tilt. Seriously. As soon as I crossed the border, made a beeline for #AsaderoAcatlan. Hit the jackpot. This Mexicali treasure was packed with half of the city’s residents. And with reason. Their mesquite-grilled carne was no joke. On the right, the quesadilla norteña with arrachera and chorizo…the left, their crowd-face California taco with sirloin and melted panela and Monterrey cheeses inside a chile. And of course all served with the norteño cuisine standard flour tortilla and a salsa line that’s . And super stoked to get this ice cold sugar-free jamaica. Must. Get. Back.
