Casa Taco

Foodies and taco lovers consider yourselves warned. Contrary to what you might think, Cuba is the Siberia your taste buds are exiled to when they mistakenly search for #culinaryparadise. Advice: lower your food expectations here—like maybe as low as they can go. Lack of spices, fresh and varied food,  a sea of flavorless sameness. So when we were scouring Havana for something remotely resembling Mexican food, we weren’t holding our breath. But finally found #CasaTacos and it turned out to be a great escape from Bland Land—tacos with corn AND flour tortillas, frijoles, pork, 2 different spicy salsas AND limón! The classic car taxis putt-putting by in Havana Vieja topped off the experience with un #brochedeoro! Cuban culinary future? Once stunning restaurants now in shambles and echoes of past prosperity all signal there’s tremendous potential for food in Cuba…stay tuned since there’s no place to go but up!
