How could you NOT be all smiles when your namesake tacos are 2 feet long!? Los Machetes is a #tacoshow for sure. And it’s a hoot to watch the action. (I’ll be posting a behind the scenes video later today). Heating up the tortillas, filling them with however many seemingly dozens of fillings (chicharrón, carne, pollo, huitlacoche, frijoles, pork), covering them with oil in abundance and then serving them up on a double platter (because no one makes plates this large). I mean, you’ve just gotta head here just north of the #AlamedaCentral because you may never have seen tacos this large. Ok. This is worth diving into the detail of this textbook exceptional customer experience. Don’t you wish we had more of this in business? Los Machetes understand and execute on what SO many don’t: the tremendous value in personalization, meaningful connection, memory building, differentiation (Guinness needs to log the size of these tacos!), genuine customer perspective. All translating to more lasting success (they’ve been iconic and packing the house since 1964) and positive generational impact. This is H2H (Human2Human) at its best and it’s better than B2C and B2B. THIS is the power of relationship economy and Los Machetes is case in point. #NPS exploding.

Sweetheart abuelita and owner (to my right), Amparito and her crew are family and they treated us like VIPs—or even better—like family. You KNOW you’re in when she invites you into her kitchen (“Aguas! No se vayan a resbalar!” — cautioning us to be careful to not slip on the greasy floor). Obviously, my monster tortilla flipping skills are laughable but they were patient, coached me through their taco tutorial and consequently created an awesome, unforgettable memory … and a raving fan for life. (Pobrecito machete!) The “mi casa es tu casa” mindset is real…it’s in their DNA. @JeffDKimball’s life mantra “Go big or go big!” was on larger-than-life display in so many ways at Los Machetes (the tortillas, the personality, the behind-the-scenes experience). Life lessons.

You just got to see these #tacos in action! Leave it to the missionaries from the @ldschurch to tip us off to #LosMachetes—a true hidden #tacotreasure in #MexicoCity’s #Guerrero neighborhood! Since 1964, this family has been cranking out #worldrecord-breaking, monstrously long taco shells that look just like #machete blades.
