Expanding the taco search means taking a day-long road trip from Guatemala to El Salvador just to pound some authentic pupusas! #worthit Behold the fruits of our labors. Ladies and gentlemen, we present tacos’ long lost, Central American stuffed cousins and source of tremendous #salvadoreanpride! Oh these amazing thick corn tortillas filled with beans and artisan queso and loroco (green blossoms) cooked on a clay comal over open flame! No wonder there is a pupusería on every corner here. The best was when we asked for a spoon for our frozen de piña (natural fruit slurpee) and the server thought we were asking for utensils to eat the pupusas — #cardinalsin. Ha! You eat these puppies with your hands and top them with spicy curtido slaw and salsa. Gracias Santa Ana, Bony and Danny for taking us to their fave local haunt #LaChoza.
